Besides the
efforts to provide the excellent services, Angkor Adventures and
its staffs so far have been active in participating,
facilitating all kinds of support to some of the following
charitable organizations that we think they are doing a great
job in saving everyday lives of our suffering people. Angkor
Adventures would like to recommend some of them as the
followings should you wish to contact either for visiting,
donating, volunteering or wish to include in your
Cambodia visiting itinerary.
1- Angkor
Hospital For Children:

Every child has the right
to a healthy and loving life. By opening your heart, sharing
your skill or providing support, you can make a profound
difference in the life of a child and the future of a nation.

The brutal Pol Pot
Regime, years of civil war and foreign occupation have left
Cambodia one of the world’s poorest countries. Approximately
34% of Cambodians survive on less than $1US per day. Of a
population of 13 million, nearly half are under the age of 15.
Unfortunately, the children suffer greatest from poverty, unsafe
water and a lack of adequate sanitation. 51% of Cambodian
children are malnourished and one in seven will die before their
fifth birthday – largely due to preventable causes. The HIV
infection rate in Cambodia is the highest in the region, many
children have lost parents to AIDS and some are infected
themselves. Cambodia is now in the process of rebuilding.
Following decades of destruction and decay, medical
infrastructure is especially weak. There are only 30 Cambodian
doctors to serve every 100,000 people. Per capita health
expenditure is low, with the majority of funding coming from
foreign sources.

Every child has the right to a healthy and loving life. Angkor
Hospital for Children exists to provide nurturing pediatric
care, medical education and community outreach. By healing
children, preventing disease and training health professionals,
a better future lies ahead.
Angkor Hospital for Children sponsored by Friends Without A
Border is a Pediatric Hospital providing free treatment and care
to the children in the Siem Reap area. On average 350 children
and their families arrive at the hospital seeking care. Since
opening in 1999, there have been more than 610,000 visits to AHC
by Cambodian children. AHC is an official Teaching Hospital and
has taught more than 2,000 healthcare professionals from
Cambodia. Please visit the website at

Handicap
International - Belgium:
Who
we are
Helping people with disabilities since 1982
The vision of Handicap International is one of a world in which
all forms of disabilities can be prevented, cared for or
integrated, and in which the rights of disabled people are
respected. In Cambodia, where so many struggle to meet basic
needs, disability often means extreme vulnerability and poverty.
At Handicap International, we provide a range of support
activities to help people with disabilities regain their
independence, dignity and rights.
What we do
Landmines and explosive remnants from the recent civil war still
kill or maim hundreds of Cambodians every year. To help these
victims build new lives, we support two Physical Rehabilitation
Centres located in Siem Reap and Takeo. The centres provide
treatment such as fitting prosthetic and orthotic devices,
physiotherapy sessions and follow-up visits in the patient’s
village, all free of
charge, to more than 5,000 disabled people per year.
Landmine accidents are just one of the many causes of
disabilities. For example, the recent improvement of the road
network has led to an alarming increase in traffic accidents.
Every day, four Cambodians die and 70 others are injured,
leading us to develop a vast prevention program encompassing
education, research and awareness.
We also work in the villages to encourage families to detect
early signs of diseases, congenital problems and other major,
preventable causes
of disabilities, and encourage them to send their children in
for treatment.
